PETALING JAYA: The remarkable true story of the Malaysian national blind football team, as told in the film Eye On The Ball, is finally set to premiere next Thursday on Astro First (channel 480).
After a rousing gala premiere at TGV 1Utama in March, which ended with a standing ovation for the team, the film’s cinema release was unfortunately disrupted by the Covid-19 pandemic.
It is now set to be part of Astro First’s exciting line-up for the Merdeka and Malaysia Day season.
National blind footballer Mohd Asri Arshad, who was featured in the film, said he hoped the film would be an eye-opener for the public when they realise what visually-impaired people can do.

“I’m not expecting for us to break (box office) records or anything.
“It’s already enough for me if viewers are inspired to go after their dreams after watching the film, ” said Asri.
“For all those who are giving up on their dreams, I think this film is perfect for them as it shows that nothing is impossible if you are willing to work for it, despite the odds, ” he said.
Eye On The Ball is the first cinema film by the award-winning R.AGE team and was directed by R.AGE senior producer Chen Yih Wen.
The film, a completely unscripted documentary, follows the emotional and inspirational journey of the blind football team in their quest to qualify for the IBSA World Blind Football Championship, the “World Cup” of blind football.

R.AGE, alongside CIMB Foundation, now hopes to raise support through the film for the blind football community, specifically the Pan-Disability Football Club, so that it can continue its work of empowering lives through football.
Eye On The Ball is presented by R.AGE, Star Media Group and CIMB Foundation, one of the earliest supporters of the local blind football community.
