Prostitution ring busted with 22 nabbed in three KL raids

KUALA LUMPUR: The police have detained 22 people in raids on three premises in the city, including 17 foreign women who are believed to be sex workers

The other five arrested were four foreign caretakers and another foreigner, who was a customer during the raids at the premises on Jalan Kuchai Maju, Jalan Klang Lama and Jalan Mega Mendung around 5.50pm on Tuesday (Aug 11).

Bukit Aman Anti-Vice, Gambling and Secret Societies Division (D7) principal assistant director Senior Asst Comm Mohd Zani Che Din said the premises offered sexual services provided by women from China, Vietnam and Indonesia.

"They charged about RM180 for their services and they target local and foreign customers," he told reporters at the scene.

The sex workers lived at the premises as they were provided with bedrooms, kitchens, bathrooms and places to wash their clothing, he added.

"One of the women arrested was a 17-year-old Vietnamese girl, who worked as a 'masseuse'. We also issued compounds to local caretakers and local customers," SAC Zani said.

All three premises did not have valid licences, he added.

"All those arrested were brought to the Brickfields police headquarters for further action," he said.
