PETALING JAYA: Malaysia recorded 13 new Covid-19 cases as of Sunday (Aug 9), bringing total infections in the country to 9,083.
Out of the 13 new cases, Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said nine were imported cases, while the rest were local transmissions.
The nine imported cases consist of five Malaysians and four foreigners.
On the local transmissions, Dr Noor Hisham said three cases were from Penang - two from the Sivagangga cluster, while the other was from the new Kurau cluster.
He added that the other local transmission case was detected in Putrajaya from the new Meranti cluster.
"There is one positive Covid-19 case that is being treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and no case required ventilator support," he said in a statement on Sunday.
He also said that there were currently 174 active cases in the country.
Dr Noor Hisham added that nine patients have been discharged bringing the total cumulative discharged cases to 8,784.
He also said no death was recorded, keeping the death toll at 125 cases.
