Labour force issues improved in June


PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia’s unemployment rate declined by 0.4 percentage points month-on-month in June 2020 to 4.9%, from a record high of 5.3% in May, the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) reported.

Chief Statistician Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Uzir Mahidin said the number of jobless reduced by 52,900 to 773,200 during the month, showing a slight improvement in Malaysia’s labour force situation as more economic sectors reopened following the recovery movement control order (MCO) phase.
