More Covid-19 cases due to Kedah and S’wak clusters

Over 800 Covid-19 cases have been detected in Kedah and Sarawak since the outbreak, says Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba.

“A total of 125 cases were detected in Kedah while 678 cases in Sarawak.

“The recent rise in cases was due to the detection of one new cluster in Kedah and nine in Sarawak,” he said in response to a question by Dr Kelvin Yii (PH-Bandar Kuching).

He said a total of 24 cases were detected from the latest Kedah cluster following the screening of 1,647 individuals.

For Sarawak, Dr Adham said a total of 67 positive cases were detected following the screening of 2,541 individuals from nine clusters.

He noted that swift action and a targeted approach in screening had helped prevent the spread of the virus in the two states.

He said the nation experienced its first Covid-19 wave between Jan 2 and Feb 15 while the second wave started on Feb 27.

He assured Dr Yii that the Health Ministry’s screening figures were accurate as they were done according to the standard operating procedure.
