Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia is back to a single-digit increase in Covid-19 infections on Monday (July 27), with seven new cases. This brings the total number of infections to 8,904 cases.

Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said of the seven new cases, four were imported cases involving three Malaysians and one non-Malaysian.

He said the four imported cases were of infections contracted abroad in Pakistan, Russia, Australia and Indonesia, while the three locally-transmitted cases involved Malaysians in Sabah.

"There are no transmissions between foreigners reported. All three local transmissions were among Malaysians.

"All three cases were detected during a pre-surgery screening, whereby two cases are being treated at Hospital Queen Elizabeth in Kota Kinabalu and one case is being treated at the Sabah Women and Children's Hospital in Likas," he said during a briefing here on Monday (July 27).

He added that the country saw no Covid-19 deaths, keeping the death toll at 124, or 1.39% out of the total number of cases.

Dr Noor Hisham also said one patient had recovered on Monday, with a total of 8,601 patients discharged since the Covid-19 outbreak began, with a overall recovery rate of 96.6%.

At present, no patient is being treated at an intensive care unit as well as none requiring ventilator support.
