NGO defends baby hatches

IPOH: A non-governmental organisation (NGO) has come to the defence of baby hatches, saying that the facility helps save the lives of newborns who would otherwise be left to die in dangerous surroundings.

OrphanCare Foundation advocacy and communications manager Riza Alwi, in rejecting a Perak state exco member’s view that more baby hatches would encourage abandonment, said since 2010, the body had saved 420 babies.
