Covid-19: 14 new cases bring total to 8,718, death toll stays at 122 (updated)

PETALING JAYA: The country recorded 14 new Covid-19 cases on Sunday (July 12) bringing the total infections to 8,718 with four recoveries.

The Health Ministry said that of the 14 new infections, three were imported cases.

"From the 11 local infections, three are Malaysians while the remaining eight are foreigners," it said in a statement.

From the three local cases, two are from Sarawak and one from Sabah.

In Sarawak, the patient was admitted after showing symptoms, while the other was a close contact of case 8,694.

Meanwhile in Sabah, a Covid-19 case was identified after a pre-reference check to the Keningau Hospital.

"The eight infections from foreigners are from close contacts of cases 8,629 and 8,630 from the Sepang Immigration depot cluster.

"As of now, three patients are being treated at ICU. Two required ventilators.

"There are no new deaths. The death toll remains at 122," the statement said.
