Covid-19: 13 new cases bring total to 8,696, no deaths

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia recorded 13 Covid-19 cases on Friday (July 10), taking the total number of infections in the country to 8,696.

Of the 13, eight are imported cases – six Malaysians and two permanent residents – involving individuals who were infected abroad, said Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah during his briefing in Putrajaya.

Dr Noor Hisham said of the five local transmission cases, three were Malaysians and two non-citizens.

He also said another 12 cases have been discharged, which means 8,511 patients or 97.9% have recovered from Covid-19 since the outbreak began.

There are now only 64 active cases left being treated at health facilities nationwide.

At present, Dr Noor Hashim said that two Covid-19 patients are being treated in intensive care units (ICU), with both requirinig ventilator support.

He announced no new deaths, which means the death toll remains at 121 cases.
