The student has been admitted to Bintulu Hospital after testing positive for Covid-19.

MIRI: A college student has been hospitalised in Bintulu Hospital after testing positive for Covid-19.

The Sarawak Disaster Relief Management Committee on Sunday (June 14) said the female student was from a public institute of higher learning located in the Mukah district in central Sarawak.

"The latest case involves a student studying in Mukah who came back to her home in Bintulu, about 200km away, in March.

"She had received visits from her relatives during the recent Hari Raya Aidilfitri festival.

"She was detected during an active tracing operation.

"The cause and source of her infection are still being probed while all her close contacts have been identified," the committee said in a press statement.

With this new case, Bintulu turns from a green zone to a yellow one, it added.

There are no other new positive cases in other parts of Sarawak on Sunday.

With this latest case, Sarawak has recorded 557 Covid-19 cases and 17 deaths so far.
