Covid-19: Sarawak records zero new cases for sixth consecutive day

KUCHING: Sarawak reported zero Covid-19 cases for the sixth consecutive day on Tuesday (June 2), with the state's tally of confirmed cases remaining at 552.

The state disaster management committee also said 11 more patients had recovered, including 10 who were discharged from the Sarawak General Hospital here and one from Sibu Hospital.

"To date, the number of Covid-19 cases who have recovered and been discharged is 519 or 94% of the total cases," it said in a statement.

On the active case detection in Belawai, a coastal area in Tanjung Manis district, the committee said 337 samples tested negative while two more samples were awaiting lab results.

The exercise was carried out last week after a college student from Tanjung Manis tested positive.

Data from the committee showed that five districts in Sarawak were still categorised as yellow zones.

Of the five districts, Samarahan, Tanjung Manis, Bintulu and Serian recorded one new case each in the last 14 days, while four new cases were detected in Kuching in the same time span.

The state's remaining 35 districts are categorised as green zones after recording no new cases in the last 14 days.
