Covid-19: Bintulu now a green zone

KUCHING: Bintulu is the latest district in Sarawak to turn into a green zone after recording no new Covid-19 cases in the last 14 days.

The state disaster management committee said 32 of Sarawak's 40 districts were now categorised as green zones while seven districts were yellow zones.

The yellow districts include Samarahan, which was previously a red zone. The number of active cases has now dropped to 34.

Only Kuching remained a red zone with 79 active cases as of Monday (May 11).

Sarawak classifies green zones as areas with no Covid-19 cases or where no new cases were detected in the last 14 days, yellow zones with one to 40 cases and red zones have 41 or more cases.

The committee also said zero new cases were reported in the state on Monday, while nine cases had recovered and discharged from the Sarawak General Hospital.

Sarawak's tally of confirmed cases remained at 543, with 17 fatalities.

Currently, 157 patients are still being treated in hospital, including three in intensive care.

The total number of recoveries stands at 369, or 67.9% of the total cases in the state.
