PUTRAJAYA: Interstate travel for Hari Raya will not be allowed despite the announcement that a large section of economic and social activities can resume from Monday.
This means out-of-towners will not be spending the festivities with their families, relatives and friends back in their hometown.
Interstate movement is not allowed unless it is meant for work, to return home after being stranded in hometowns or other places since the movement control order was enforced on March 18.
Interstate movement is among a list of activities under the MCO yet to be lifted.
Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin in announcing the resumption of almost all economic and business activities, also informed the people what were still not allowed as the fight against Covid-19 continued.
“Aside from certain types of businesses that are not allowed to operate, sports activities that involved mass gathering, body contact and other risks of infection are not allowed.
“Social, community and cultural events as well as religious activities such as Friday prayers, group activities and gatherings in mosques and other places of worship cannot be held, ” he said in a special address yesterday.
Sports activities that are prohibited include football, rugby, swimming and other stadium and indoor events.
Open houses, feasts, large-scale buka puasa events, concerts, cultural shows, government’s monthly assemblies and event launches cannot be held.

The fourth phase of the MCO, which is until May 12, was still in place when the government announced the resumption of a host of economic, business and social activities.
