KLANG; Selangor Ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah has decreed that the suspension of all activities in mosques, suraus and musollahs will be extended until May 31.
In a statement issued on Monday (April 13) by his private secretary Datuk Mohamad Munir Bani, His Highness said the decision was to protect the people of Selangor from Covid-19 infection.
The activities concerned are Friday and congregational prayers as well as talks and lectures.
"However, if the infection is able to be contained earlier, a new order will be issued," he said, adding that Friday prayers must be replaced with Zuhur prayers.
Sultan Sharafuddin also said tarawih prayers in the month of Ramadan were to be performed at home.
"Every citizen must be even more serious in efforts to overcome the pandemic by staying at home, ensuring personal cleanliness and health as well as observing social distancing," he added.
Mohammad Munir said everyone should adhere to the government's instructions and guidelines issued by the Health Ministry.
"His Highness has stressed that it is very important for these to be obeyed to prevent the people from gathering or grouping together which could increase the risk of Covid-19 infection," he said.
According to Mohamad Munir, Sultan Sharafiddin was also concerned with the spread of fake news and videos about the pandemic.
In view of this, Sultan Sharafuddin reminded all parties to be more responsible and not fabricate news which could cause worry among the people.
He said Sultan Sharafuddin also urged the people not to fall for fake news and to always verify what they read on social media.
