KUALA LUMPUR: Touch ‘n Go eWallet has provided QR codes for users to scan and send donations to organisations that are helping underprivileged communities.
“With the movement control order in place, users can continue to donate by scanning the QR codes found on our Facebook page or save the QR code images in their phone gallery,” said TNG Digital Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Ignatius Ong.
“The public can share the QR codes with family members and friends to increase the amount of donations to these non-governmental organisations,” he said.
Ong said proceeds would be channelled to Touch ‘n Go eWallet partners, among them Kechara Soup Kitchen, Tzu Chi Buddhist Foundation and Yayasan Generasi Gemilang, which cater to the needs of the homeless, vulnerable and low-income families.
Other partners include Make A Wish Malaysia, Malaysian AIDS Foundation, Malaysian Association for the Blind, Malaysian Red Crescent Society, Persatuan Buddhist USM, Persatuan Penganut Agama Buddha Kadhampa Johor Jaya, Persatuan Persaudaraan Kristian Rumah Charis, Pintar Foundation, Rotary Club BP/Haemodialysis/Charity Foundation, National Kidney Foundation, Yayasan Al-Quds Malaysia, Yayasan Ar-Ri’ayah, Yayasan Belia Buddhist Malaysia, Yayasan Chow Kit, Yayasan Ikhlas, Yayasan Pekerja Malaysia, Yayasan Perintis Malaysia, Yayasan Taiwan Buddhist Tzu-Chi Malaysia and Yayasan Wakaf Buku.
“We want to do our part through our user base of over 10 million by advocating a digital, cashless manner, in which financial aid can be given, not just as an immediate response to Covid-19 but as a long-term solution.
“We urge NGOs that have been relying on traditional methods of receiving donations to get in touch with us, so that we can assist in providing a safe, seamless and quicker avenue through our eWallet,” said Ong.
