No Covid-19 cases so far in three rural Ulu Sarawak districts, says assemblyman

MIRI: The rural districts of Mulu, Marudi and Telang Usan in northern Sarawak have not detected any Covid-19 infections despite being immediate neighbours of Miri, where there have been 10 cases and one death.

Mulu assemblyman Datuk Gerawat Gala (pic) told The Star that Covid-19 has not spread beyond Miri to the surrounding interior.

"I have checked and found there are no Covid-19 cases in Mulu, Telang Usan and Marudi.

"We will take all necessary measures to make sure tha there is no chance of Covid-19 spreading into the rural districts," he said Saturday (March 28).

Gala, who is Deputy State Assembly Speaker, said strict movement control measures have been effective so far in preventing any spread of infections.

"We continue to pray that rural Sarawak remains free from any infections.

"We pray that this outbreak can be tackled fast in Sarawak and the rest of the country," he said.
