PETALING JAYA: The public must be truthful in disclosing their travel history and close contacts concerning the Covid-19 pandemic, says Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
He expressed concern about several cases where Covid-19 patients deliberately hid critical information from healthcare workers.
“We had a few incidences this week where patients concealed their contacts or symptoms.
“Travel history and close contact information, for example, those linked to the tabligh gathering in Seri Petaling mosque were also not being revealed.
“Only after clinical procedures and treatment were completed that such critical information was disclosed,” he said.
By then, Dr Noor Hisham said
the safety of healthcare workers and the facilities were compromised.
“I appeal to the public and patients to please be truthful and not to hide information and risk our lives and facilities,” he said in a Facebook posting.
A doctor shared on Twitter on Thursday that a man lied at a public health clinic about attending the tabligh gathering before being tested positive for Covid-19.
This led to all the medical staff in contact with him to be quarantined as they could be infected.
