No marriages or divorces at NRD during MCO

PETALING JAYA: Registration of marriages in all National Registration Department (NRD) offices nationwide as well as filing of divorces have been put on hold during the movement control order (MCO) period, says NRD.

Churches and temples were also not allowed to hold wedding ceremonies, it said.

“During the movement control order, all divisions of citizenship, marriage and divorce, investigation and enforcement will be suspended.

“All enquiries on marriage and divorce can be made through 03-8880 8134 while investigation and enforcement enquiries can be made through 03-8880 7770, ” said NRD in a statement on Wednesday.

The 39 NRD offices nationwide, however, will remain open except for those in the Urban Transformation Centres to allow application for lost and spoilt MyKads, registration of births and death certificates as well as extraction of MyKads and birth certificates, it said.

NRD offices will operate from 8am to 5pm as usual on weekdays but it requests that the public delay their transactions at its offices until the MCO is over unless it is necessary or an emergency due to banking, health, work or having issues with the authorities.

The public can also go to www.jpn.gov.my for more information.
