100k face masks arriving from China on March 20

PETALING JAYA: China has extended assistance to Malaysia by donating 100,000 face masks while battling the Covid-19 global pandemic.

Foreign Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein said the equipment was expected to arrive through an AirAsia flight later on Friday (March 20).

“Alhamdulillah, more good news!

“I was just informed by Malaysian Ambassador to China Raja Datuk Nushirwan Zainal Abidin that we got 100,000 face masks from the kind president of China-Asia Economic Development Association.

“(This was made possible) through the close Malaysia-China relationship and also the hard work of Malaysian delegates there.

“Thank you, Raja Nushirwan and Malaysian embassy in China for this effort!” he said on his Facebook Friday (March 20).

Hishammuddin also thanked AirAsia for voluntarily flying the equipment back to Malaysia at no charge.

“Let’s hope it will help us in our efforts in fighting the Covid-19 pandemic, ” he added.
