PTPTN relief: Loan payments deferred for three months

PETALING JAYA: The government has announced a three-month deferment of PTPTN (National Higher Education Fund Corporation) loan repayments.

Higher Education Minister Datuk Dr Noraini Ahmad said they came to the decision based on the impact of Covid-19 on the economy.

“We decided on the three-month deferment after taking into consideration the impact of the virus on the economy that may cause a decrease or loss of income on borrowers, ” she said in a statement Wednesday (March 18).

She added that the deferment would be in affect immediately until June 30.

“In line with the deferment all borrowers would also be exempted from any enforcement or legal action, ” she said.
