PETALING JAYA: China has pledged to supply necessary medical equipment to Malaysia in its efforts to counter the Covid-19 outbreak, says Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein.
He added that China’s Ambassador to Malaysia Bai Tian said the equipment, including ventilators, face masks, PCR testing kits and sanitisers, will be provided to assist Malaysia in dealing with the virus.
“I will be writing formally to my Chinese counterpart Wang Yi on this request so that our people in Malaysia will always be given priority and be protected in the war against Covid-19.
“This truly is an opportunity to showcase the strong ties forged between Malaysia and China, just as what the Ambassador said in the meeting: “Bukit sama didaki, lurah sama dituruni” (Together let’s overcome obstacles), ” he said in a Facebook post Monday (March 16).
The meeting was held at Hishammuddin’s office at Wisma Putra, Putrajaya.
“We both emphasised that Malaysia and China will strengthen cooperation in all fields but focused on our most pressing task - the fight against #Covid19, ” he wrote in his post.
