MELAKA: Datuk Norhizam Hassan Baktee claims he has not received any official letter from DAP terminating him as a party member.
The Pengkalan Batu assemblyman and former Melaka DAP deputy chairman said he was ready to accept any action from the party leadership, including his expulsion.
"I just want to ask the DAP leadership to answer why they were silent on issues affecting DAP assemblymen in the state (Melaka)," he said on Tuesday (March 10).
"I hope the DAP leadership does some soul-searching on why party lawmakers had to defect. It is not all our fault for doing so," he added.
Earlier, DAP and Amanah issued statements that the two parties would terminate the memberships of four assemblymen – DAP's Norhizam Hassan Baktee (Pengkalan Batu), Perak DAP duo Yong Choo Kiong (Tronoh) and Sivasubramaniam Athi Narayanan (Buntong) and Perak Amanah's Hasnul Zulkarnain Abd Munaim (Titi Serong).
In a statement, DAP disciplinary committee chairman Chong Chieng Jen said that as the defections were seen as a "betrayal of the people's mandate", their memberships were automatically terminated.
"The DAP disciplinary committee has today terminated the membership of Norhizam for crossing over from DAP to Perikatan," said Chong on Tuesday.
