Chong ready to face PKR action

JOHOR BARU: Independent assemblyman Dr Chong Fat Full (pic) has welcomed PKR’s action against him for quitting the party and joining the new Johor government.

The newly sworn-in state unity, trade and consumer affairs committee chairman said he had received legal advice from his lawyers over the matter.

“PKR’s act in taking legal action against their members is against the Federal Constitution.

“Everyone has the right to join any association they want and PKR will not succeed as they will be going against the Constitution, ” the Pemanis assemblyman said.

He said he preferred to focus on his new duties as a state executive council member and better serve the rakyat.

“I received tremendous support from my fellow state executive council members who urged me to stay strong.

“I do not want to be occupied with politics and instead will be focusing on the task entrusted to me, ” he added.

On Thursday, Johor PKR said it would refer Dr Chong for disciplinary action, including demanding RM10mil in damages.
