Sri Aman MP now backs Dr M

KUCHING: Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) has directed its sole parliamentarian Datuk Masir Kujat (pic) to support Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, a day after the Sri Aman MP denied backing him in a video message.

This comes after PSB's presidential council decided that the party would support Dr Mahathir in view of Pakatan Harapan's victory in GE14.

"Accordingly, the presidential council has decided that the video statement by Masir is hereby withdrawn.

"PSB will support Dr Mahathir and Pakatan in order to give effect to the wishes of the people in GE14. We believe it is morally right to do so," the party said in a statement on Sunday (March 1).

It said Masir, who is a member of the presidential council, agreed with the decision and would decline any offer of a post in the Federal Government.

PSB also called for Parliament to convene as scheduled on March 9 to resolve the dispute over who commands majority support in the Dewan Rakyat.

The party added that while it would contest against Pakatan and Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) in the coming state election, it had not lost sight of the people's will expressed in GE14 that Pakatan should form the Federal Government.

"The Pakatan Harapan coalition has the mandate of the people, and unless this mandate is removed by another general election, PSB is of the view that it would be wrong to go against the will of the people," it said.
