Daughter of recovered American Covid-19 patient thanks Malaysian medical team

KUALA LUMPUR: The daughter of an 83-year-old American patient who recovered from Covid-19 has expressed gratitude to the medical team at Sungai Buloh Hospital for taking care of her parents.

"I want to thank you and the whole team of doctors, nurses and staff who took care of my parents. You all are truly wonderful, kind and talented people. My whole family wants to express our deepest gratitude. Best wishes. Thanks so much for everything," said the unnamed daughter's message to infectious diseases consultant Dr Benedict Sim.

Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, who shared the message on Facebook late Thursday (Feb 27) said case number 22, the 83-year-old American woman who tested positive twice on Feb 15, was treated with lopinavir/ritonavir and had recovered fully and was discharged after two consecutive tests were negative.

Her husband tested negative for Covid-19 but was admitted for treatment of severe pneumonia, he said.

"Both were discharged today and I would like to congratulate Dr (C.) Suresh (Kumar), Dr Benedict and all our staff (members) in Sg Buloh Hospital for the great care given to the couple. My heartfelt thank you, all," he said.
