PETALING JAYA: Pakatan Harapan’s announcement on the transition of power is merely “window dressing” with the political tension remaining fluid and volatile within the coalition.
“It is far from settled with the face-saving statements made by their leaders after the meeting.
“An implosion within Pakatan may still happen at anytime,” said Umno secretary-general Tan Sri Annuar Musa yesterday.
He noted that the nation’s political landscape would change if the transition issue results in a further split within Pakatan.
“This will surely happen and it is only a matter of time,” Annuar said.
Meanwhile, vocal PKR lawmaker William Leong said that the Pakatan leadership was responsible for the decision made.
“We really do not know what was discussed and agreed by the top six at the meeting.
“However, the entire Pakatan leadership is now responsible for the official position that (Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad) decides when he is to retire.
“It is an indication that for this coalition, its promise is fluid and can change according to their own needs,” he said when contacted.
Last week, Leong, who is Selayang MP, claimed that Dr Mahathir had not changed from his “dictatorial” ways.
He also suggested the need for a “Plan B” on the transition plan.
