PAS, Umno should show me their support, says PM

PUTRAJAYA: Opposition parties must demonstrate their support if they want to work with me, says Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad (pic).

The Prime Minister said he is aware of talks that Umno and even PAS wanted to work with him.

"I told them if you want to work with me then just support (me)," he said in response to a question at a press conference on Thursday (Jan 6)

Asked if he welcomes the support from the oppositions parties, Dr Mahathir said: "Anybody supporting me, I feel like floating."

He said the Opposition can work with him by supporting what is good done by the government, especially in Parliament.

"I think they should support and not just oppose blindly (in Parliament)," he said.

Dr Mahathir was commenting on reports that Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had purportedly said the party must work with Dr Mahathir, because PAS is doing so.
