Three killed in multiple road accidents

KUALA LUMPUR: A man died while another suffered a leg injury following an accident near the Intermark Mall.

It is learnt that the driver of a Proton Saga lost control of the car and rammed into a road divider at around 5am yesterday.

Fire and Rescue Department personnel were dispatched to the scene and discovered that the driver had a broken leg, while a passenger was trapped.

The passenger was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene, a department spokesman said in a statement.

In an unrelated incident, a 27-year-old man died after his motorcycle collided with a car at a traffic light near Maju Junction on Saturday night.

Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Asst Comm Zulkefly Yahya said the impact of the collision caused the victim, identified as Iskandar Abd Rahman, to fall onto the road.

“He died at the scene while the car driver, a Pakistani national, was unhurt. We are still investigating the matter, ” he said.

In Melaka, two Proton Wira collided head-on, killing one person.

Alor Gajah OCPD Superintendent Arshad Abu said the incident happened at Jalan Bukit Merchant, Pulau Sebang, at 11.45pm on Saturday.

One of the drivers, identified as 61-year-old Karpanah Arunasalam, died on the spot from head injuries.

The 19-year-old driver of the other car escaped with minor injuries.

Supt Arshad said the teenager, who was with four friends, was believed to have lost control of his car before ramming into the other vehicle driven by Karpanah, who was with four family members.
