New Kimanis MP goes on a walkabout to thank voters

BEAUFORT: Datuk Mohamad Alamin visited the Membakut tamu (weekly market) yesterday, fresh after winning the Kimanis seat, to thank his voters.

He arrived at about 9.45am, mingled with those at the coffeeshops and then went to the tamu nearby.

He was surrounded by vendors and tamu visitors, who were eager to get selfies with the newly minted Member of Parliament.

He also visited Bongawan town after the visit.

“I will use this chance to bring matters close to the people’s hearts to the parliament, ” the Kimanis Umno division chief told reporters.

Mohamad said he would continue to object against the Sabah Temporary Pass (PSS), a heated issue during his campaign.

“We hope we have sent them a message to cancel the PSS plans.

“If they want people to live without worrying, they have to consider this, ” he added, adding that the cost of living was also another concern voiced by Kimanis constituents.

Asked if he will follow the footsteps of Sabah Umno chief Datuk Bung Moktar, the only other Sabah Umno representative in parliament known for being vocal during parliament sessions, he replied, “I will be myself. We both have different styles and approaches, but our goals and agendas are the same.”
