PETALING JAYA: The fifth victim from a tragic accident on Friday (Jan 10) – Mohamad Taslim Jamsari Mohamad – has passed away.
The 31-year-old passed away at 1pm on Sunday (Jan 11) while receiving treatment at the Intensive Care Unit of the Sungai Buloh Hospital.
His death was confirmed by Sungai Buloh OCPD Supt Shafa'aton Abu Bakar.
On early Friday, three women and a nine-month-old baby were killed when a SUV crashed into the back of their stationary car on the North South Expressway (NSE), near Sungai Buloh.
Taslim's grandmother, Aisah Mat, aged 74, his mother Ruzi Osman (54), his wife Ain Fazira Mohd Yazid (25), and his infant daughter died at the scene.
It is learnt that most of the family lived in Sekinchan, Selangor, and that the SUV driver suffered minor injuries in the collision.
An investigation is ongoing to ascertain the exact cause of the crash and a statement from the SUV driver has been recorded.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act for causing death by reckless driving.
