MELAKA: PKR women’s wing vice-president Sangetha Jayakumar (pic) broke tradition by delivering the winding-up speech at the party’s national congress after her chief, Haniza Mohamed Talha, failed to show up on Sunday (Dec 8).
Haniza was among the members of the pro-Azmin faction who did not show up for the final day of the congress at the Melaka International Trade Centre (MITC) Sunday (Dec 8).
Among key national leaders not present for the final day were PKR deputy president Datuk Seri Azmin Ali, vice-president Zuraida Kamaruddin and several central leadership council members (MPP).
PKR Youth chief Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir hit out against the absent leaders, labelling them “pretentious and insincere”.
Party vice-president Chang Lih Kang also wanted the PKR leadership to expel those who walked out on Saturday (Dec 7).
Azmin and 22 others had walked out of the hall on Saturday citing broken promises and provocative statements from pro-Anwar delegates.
