Wee queries RM1.4bil padi contracts

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong has questioned the procedure in which a contract worth RM1.4bil for padi subsidies and imports was awarded to the National Farmers Organisation (Nafas), claiming that it was done via direct negotiation instead of open tender.

The Ayer Hitam MP raised the issue when debating Budget 2020 in the Dewan Rakyat yesterday as he demanded an answer from the Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister Datuk Seri Sallahuddin Ayub.
