PETALING JAYA: Former Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein is prepared to be investigated by Umno’s disciplinary board following his attendance at a controversial meeting that took place at the home of Economic Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Azmin Ali.
The Sembrong MP denied masterminding the meeting between several Umno and PKR MPs with Azmin, who is PKR deputy president.
Hishammuddin said the accusation that he led the meeting was “not true”.
“It was not me who planned the meeting. But if the Umno disciplinary board wants to investigate me, I am ready.
“There is nothing for me to hide,” he said on Twitter yesterday.
Earlier yesterday, Umno supreme council member Datuk Lokman Noor Adam accused Hishammuddin of masterminding the meeting.
He said the Umno disciplinary board should take action against Hishammuddin for alleged involvement in influencing party leaders to support the leadership of Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
“Hishammuddin’s action was clearly against the party’s supreme council decision not to have any cooperation with any component parties from Pakatan Harapan.
“I hope no party will defend him for his betrayal. Umno should take action against him,” he said.
