JOHOR BARU: The Johor government announced Sunday (Nov 3) as a special state public holiday after Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) were crowned Malaysia Cup champions.
The announcement was made by the Johor state secretary Datuk Azmi Rohani after the match at Bukit Jalil National Stadium in Kuala Lumpur ended with a 3-0 victory over Kedah.
"The special public holiday is given as a mark of celebration and our show of gratitude to all of the JDT supporters that had given their undivided support and commitment to the team," he said in a statement here, on Saturday (Nov 2)," he said.
He added that the special public holiday announcement was made on the Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar's decree, in line with the provisions of powers conferred under Section 9(1) of the Public Holidays Act.
