Cops: Student's kidnap claim was a ploy to skip classes

KLANG: An 11-year-old pupil tried to pull a fast one on her mother, by claiming that she was almost kidnapped by a group of men.

However, it was all just a ploy to skip classes.

The truth was finally uncovered after a police investigation was conducted into the girl's claims.

North Klang OCPD ACP Nurulhuda Mohd Salleh (pic), in a statement on Thursday (Sept 12), said that the so-called attempted kidnapping was reported on Sept 7.

"The girl's mother said that a kidnapping attempt was made at a primary school in Bukit Kapar Barat by eight men in two white vans.

"However, the girl later confessed on Sept 12 that the incident had never happened. The story was created to garner attention from her family. Also, she did not want to attend Arabic classes at her school," ACP Nurulhuda said.

ACP Nurulhuda advised the public to not spread false news on social media as well, adding that it could cause panic among the people.

She added that by doing so was also an offence under the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
