SHAH ALAM: Police are hunting for five more suspects in connection with the murder of a 42-year-old man who was abducted from Ampang Waterfront before being killed and buried in Semenyih, Kajang, in late September.
Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Shazeli Kahar said the five suspects, aged between 35 and 48, are believed to still be in the state.
"The suspects, known as Dedek, Jimmy Boy, Amen, Yeye and Apak, are believed to still be in Selangor. All five are Malaysian nationals," he told a press conference at Selangor police contingent headquarters here on Wednesday (Oct 14).
The victim was abducted by several individuals in a vehicle between 4am and 4.30am on Sept 24.
His wife then lodged a police report, prompting police to launch search, tracking and intelligence operations.
"On Sept 27, we were led by one of the suspects to a location in Semenyih, Kajang, where the victim had been killed and buried.
"Before he was killed, the victim was also held captive and tortured at two separate locations," Comm Shazeli said.
He added that investigations indicated the incident stemmed from a dispute between the victim and the suspects.
A post-mortem examination found that the cause of death was multiple incised wounds to the neck. The victim also sustained other injuries.
Police arrested 15 individuals aged between 20 and 48 during operations conducted from Sept 24 to 27.
"They comprised 12 local men, a local woman and two foreign men," Comm Shazeli said, adding that the arrests involved abduction, murder and firearms offences.
"We also seized two shotguns, a vehicle and a hoe believed to have been used to bury the victim.
"Some of those arrested had criminal and drug-related offences on their records," he said.
On Tuesday (Oct 13), three suspects were charged in connection with the abduction under Section 365 of the Penal Code, read together with Section 34 of the same Code.
In the murder case, two suspects were charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code, read together with Section 34, while three others were charged under Section 109, read together with Section 302 of the same Code.
Eleven were made prosecution witnesses in connection with the murder case, while five other suspects remain at large.
In the firearms case, three suspects were charged under Section 8(a) of the Arms Act 1960, read together with Section 36(1).
Two foreign nationals were also charged under Sections 6(1)(c) and 15(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63.
Comm Shazeli urged anyone with information on the whereabouts of the five wanted suspects to contact the Kajang district police headquarters or the nearest police station.
"We greatly appreciate the cooperation of the public in serving as the eyes and ears of the police to help prevent crime," he said.
