Rapper Zynakal fined RM2.8k for assaulting pump attendant


KUALA LUMPUR: Rapper Zynakal was fined RM2,800 by an Ampang Magistrate's Court here after he admitted to roughing up a petrol station attendant on Wednesday (Aug 28).

Zynakal, or his birth name Muhammad Raziq Rosli, pleaded guilty to two charges of causing hurt to the victim and obstructing a policeman from discharging his duties.

The 21-year-old, who was unrepresented, then asked for leniency.

He told the court that he did not earn a fixed salary by working as a lyricist and song composer.

Deputy Public Prosecutor S. Sangitaa asked for a just sentence as a lesson for the accused.

Magistrate Mohamad Firdaus Sadina Ali then fined the accused RM800 and RM2,000 for the offences respectively.

The court also ordered the accused to serve six months' jail if he fails to pay the fine.

According to the charge sheet, Zynakal was accused of causing hurt to Ahmad Mostak, a Bangladeshi, at the Petronas Pandan Prima petrol station in Ampang here, at about 3pm on Aug 28.

He was charged under Section 323 Penal Code which carries a maximum one year jail term or a fine, or both, upon conviction.

For the second charge, Zynakal was accused of preventing a police officer from carrying out his duties by not showing his identification card for inspection.

The charge under Section 186 of the Penal Code carries a maximum two years' jail term, or a maximum fine of RM10,000, or both, if convicted.
