Road rage suspect to be charged with murder on Aug 22

SHAH ALAM: The suspect arrested over the fatal road rage incident at Bandar Baru Bangi is expected to be charged Thursday (Aug 22).

Deputy Selangor police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Ab Rashid Ab Wahab said the suspect will be charged at the Kajang Magistrate’s Court with murder.

“I was expecting this question and yes, we expect to charge him under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder, ” he told reporters at the Shah Alam police headquarters on Wednesday (Aug 21).

The police recently completed their investigation into the fatal road rage incident that took place at the PLUS Highway near Bandar Baru Bangi, and the investigation papers were sent to the deputy public prosecutor (DPP) for further action.

The 40-year-old man and his 36-year-old wife were initially nabbed in connection with the Aug 10 incident where a 29-year-old man's vehicle knocked into the couple's car just after the Sungai Besi toll plaza.

Following the incident, the two drivers got involved in a car chase and a scuffle ensued between them at the Bandar Baru Bangi interchange. Witnesses at the scene broke up the fight and the two drivers returned to their vehicles.

The 29-year-old man then got out of his vehicle with a baseball bat and smashed the other car's bonnet; the older driver then lurched his vehicle forward and hit the victim.

The man was pinned between the car and the road divider. He was subsequently rushed to the Nilai Medical Centre but died while receiving treatment.

Both husband and wife were initially remanded for seven days until Aug 17. The wife was released but the husband had his remand order extended to Aug 22.
