PETALING JAYA: Zakir Naik (pic) will be at Bukit Aman again tomorrow to resume his statement following his racially charged remarks.
The controversial Indian-born preacher had his statement recorded on Friday but the session was postponed at his request.
Criminal Investigation Department director Comm Datuk Huzir Mohamed said Friday’s session started at 3.30pm and ended at 7pm.“He requested the session be postponed as he wanted to break fast.“We will resume recording his statement at 3.30pm on Monday, ” he said in a statement yesterday and added that Zakir would be accompanied by his lawyer Datuk Akberdin Abdul Kader.
A total of 115 police reports have been lodged against Zakir over his remarks during a lecture in Kota Baru last week where he claimed that Malaysian Indians were more loyal to the Narendra Modi government.
He was also reported to have called Chinese Malaysians “old guests” who should go back to their ancestral land before he was made to leave the country.
Comm Huzir said tycoon Tan Sri Koon Yew Yin would also have his statement recorded in Ipoh tomorrow.
Koon said that Armed Forces personnel did nothing but eat and sleep.
The construction magnate has since apologised for his remarks.
Comm Huzir also said they would be calling Dong Zong chairman Tan Tai Kim soon over the group’s statement that the introduction of jawi calligraphy in vernacular schools was a form of Islamisation.
“We received a report on the matter on Tuesday.
“We are investigating it and Tan will be called up soon, ” he said.
