Cops looking for two suspects attempting to steal food delivery rider's motorcycle

PETALING JAYA: A video of two suspects attempting to rob a food delivery rider of his motorcycle at Phileo Damansara 2 here has gone viral.

The one-minute, 37-second video shows the delivery rider pulling into the entrance of an area, followed by two suspects on another motorcycle.

The victim gets off his motorcycle and seems to begin talking to the two suspects before the pillion rider hit him on the back of the head and threatens to hit him again with an unidentified object.

Moments later, the other suspect charges at the rider and attempts to ride off with the victim's motorcycle.

The victim then jumps on the suspect as he tries to ride away, and a struggle ensues between the three.

The victim is seen being wrestled to the ground while the other suspect tries to ride his motorcycle and attempts to kick him.

However, the victim manages to get up and walk back to his machine, forcing the suspects to flee the scene.

When contacted, Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Zani Che Din said the incident occurred at 2.53pm on Friday (Aug 9).

"The suspects claimed that the motorcycle the victim was riding was stolen and then attacked him with a motorcycle lock.

"The victim fought back and in the scuffle, one of the suspects dropped their mobile phone before fleeing the scene, " he said, adding that the victim suffered injuries to his mouth, head, ears and back.

He also said witnesses at the scene claimed that one of the suspects was seen carrying a machete.

"We are investigating the case under Section 394 of the Penal Code for causing hurt during an attempted robbery, " he said, adding that police were now tracing the whereabouts of the suspects.
