JOHOR BARU: Police have detained the father of one of the two boys who were filmed doing the ‘Superman stunt’ on the back of a fast-moving car in Pasir Gudang on Sunday.
The 49-year-old man was picked up from a house in Taman Nusa Damai at about 7.45pm, several hours after the video went viral.
In the clip, two boys are seen sitting and on the boot and also lying face down holding onto the fast-moving car as it speeds down a busy road believed to be in Taman Scientex.
Seri Alam OCPD Supt Ismail Dollah said the man claimed he was only fulfilling his son’s wish to sit on the car’s boot while travelling along an intersection in Pasir Gudang.
He said the other boy seen on the trunk was a friend of the man’s son.
“We have seized the Toyota Vios used in their stunt,” he said yesterday.
Johor Tourism, Women Development, Family and Community Committee chairman Liow Cai Tung said the stunt put the children’s lives in danger and also posed a hazard to other road users.
Liow told reporter that stern action should be taken against the man so it will serve as a lesson to others.
