KUALA LUMPUR: A PKR state assemblyman has been summoned by Bukit Aman to have his statement recorded in connection with the sex video implicating Economic Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Azmin Ali.

Bukit Aman CID director Comm Datuk Huzir Mohamed (pic) confirmed that police had recorded the statement of a 34-year-old assemblyman on Monday (July 22), but declined to reveal the person's identity.

"I confirm that the assemblyman arrived (at Bukit Aman) at 10am and we finished recording his statement at 11.30am.

"He is assisting police in the investigation," Comm Huzir said when contacted.

On a suspect who was arrested in Shah Alam on Friday (July 19), Comm Huzir said his remand had been extended until Wednesday (July 24).

So far, 11 people have been detained over the case to date, with five subsequently released after their remand expired on Thursday (July 18).

Among those detained were former PKR Santubong Youth chief Haziq Abdullah Abdul Aziz and Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak, who is Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's political secretary and Perak PKR chief.

Haziq had confessed publicly that he was one of the two men in the video and alleged the other person was Azmin.

Last week, Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Abdul Hamid Bador said that CyberSecurity Malaysia could not identify those in the sex video through facial recognition.
