Ampang MP Zuraida Kamaruddin

KUALA LUMPUR: PKR vice-president Zuraida Kamaruddin has denied boycotting the party’s retreat in Negri Sembilan, saying that she has to attend official government functions.

Zuraida, who is widely seen as being in party deputy president Datuk Seri Azmin Ali’s camp, said she needed to attend the International Firefighters’ Day yesterday and that she had another programme in Indonesia to attend as well.

“I can’t make it to Port Dickson to participate in the retreat,” she said yesterday.

Zuraida has been directed by PKR secretary-general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail to explain to party leaders her “cracks in the party” claim.

Stressing that she could not make it because of her prior commitments, Zuraida, who is Housing and Local Government Minister, said she would discuss with the organisers if they were willing to arrange for a live conference.
