Body recovered from Mulu cave confirmed as that of missing tour guide

MIRI: Search-and-rescue teams have confirmed the body found in the Deer Cave in Mulu National Park is that of missing tour guide Roviezal Robin, 20.

Miri Fire and Rescue Department chief Supt Law Poh Kiong said the body has been taken out of the cave.

"The search team are carrying the body out from the cave and bringing it to base camp. The body was found 500m from the side of the cave with a bridge.

"It was found on a rock stuck between some wood pieces," he said at 11am Monday (July 15).

Robin was leading nine foreign tourists into the cave when flash floods hit at 6pm Friday (July 12).

Dutch tourist Peter Hoverkamp, 66, died in the tragedy after he and Robin were swept away.

The other eight managed to escape to higher ground.
