MELAKA: After Johor, internal party strife is also rumbling in Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) here.
There are attempts to oust the co-ordinator for Ayer Limau state constituency Datuk Seri Ruslin Hasan, said a joint statement by the Bersatu women’s wing (Sri Kandi) chief Azalina Abdul Rahman and its Youth (Armada) chief Ramlan Meon.
In the statement, both claimed that Ruslin, the former Kuala Lumpur mayor who contested as a Bersatu candidate in the Ayer Limau state constituency, confirmed he would be replaced as the coordinator on July 1.
Former candidate for Masjid Tanah parliamentary constituency Datuk Dr Sabirin Jaafar was tipped to replace Ruslin.
The two accused state chief Datuk Seri Mohd Redzuan Yusof of masterminding the ouster attempt.
They claimed this was the second attempt by Mohd Redzuan to remove Ruslin although the latter is an experienced administrator and has been doing his duties diligently.
They also said Mohd Redzuan, who is also the Entrepreneur Development Minister, often makes “unwise decision which could derail the party’s state machinery” and is no longer fit to lead the state Bersatu.
Earlier, a group of Bersatu’s grassroot members as well as Melaka Pakatan Harapan leaders gathered at Masjid Tanah in Alor Gajah to protest against the attempts to remove Ruslin.
