KUALA LUMPUR: Haziq Abdullah Abdul Aziz did not know Datuk Seri Azmin Ali’s whereabouts and had badgered for details on the Economic Affairs Minister’s programme during the Sandakan by-election campaign, claims a PKR Youth leader who was in charge of the logistics of PKR leaders at the time.

Sabah PKR Youth deputy chief Blission Zainuddin said Haziq contacted him many times daily through WhatsApp messages and phone calls throughout the campaign period to inquire about the details of Azmin’s whereabouts and activities, including where the minister was staying.

“Haziq sent me messages from April 27 up to May 10 (Sandakan by-election) asking for details about Azmin’s schedule and lodging information.

“Then he also called me many times. The messages and calls were always initiated from his end.

“I was chosen to be part of the machinery of some of the Pakatan Harapan leaders during their trip to Sandakan on the basis that I am a licensed bodyguard and have a team which can ensure security.

“He insisted that I share the details, claiming that he needed to know because he was the private secretary of Deputy Primary Industries and Commodities Minister Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin.

“I did not feel comfortable, but as we were from the same party and it was meant for a deputy minister, I decided to give him the details,” said Blission.

In a statutory declaration yesterday, Blission revealed the many screenshots of the WhatsApp message exchange between him and Haziq throughout the period.

“On May 10, he asked me not to reveal to anyone that he had inquired about Azmin. I felt it was weird but decided not to think about it too much. He did not contact me after that,” said Blission.

He further asked why Haziq had to go through him if the latter indeed had an intimate relationship with the minister for the past three years with alleged secret meetings at various hotel as he claimed in his Facebook posting on June 13.

“Would he not have had direct contact with Azmin if he said they were in such an intimate relationship?,” asked Blission at a press conference.

In an interview with The Star, Blission said he decided to expose Haziq after the latter’s confession that he was the man in the recently released sex video clips featuring a man resembling Azmin.

“I felt that I was used by Haziq. I felt responsible for what is happening (the slander on Azmin) because I was the one who revealed the details to Haziq. I did not think that the details I gave Haziq would be used to slander a leader of the party.

“As a PKR Youth leader, I came on my own free will to clean up the name of the party which has been smeared by Haziq.

“I am not paid by anyone and neither do the top PKR leaders know I am here in Kuala Lumpur from Sabah. I also fear for my safety after this, but I have my two bodyguards here,” said Blission.

He also said that he knew Haziq well enough from the past party elections, when Haziq had just rejoined the party and was allowed to contest.

“He was with the Rafizi Ramli camp then,” Blission claimed.

Blission will be lodging a police report with his WhatsApp screenshots.

On claims by fellow party youth leader Syed Badli Shah Syed Osman, Blission said he is not with any camp but is for the party.
