Puppies up for adoption at Citta Mall

PETALING JAYA: An elderly couple was driving along a street when they spotted a puppy thrown out of a car a few days ago.

The puppy would have become road kill if they had not picked it up and brought it home.

The female puppy will be among several puppies that will be put up for adoption at the Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better (MDDB) adoption drive on Sunday (May 26).

The adoption drive is being held at the main entrance of Citta Mall from 11am to 6pm.

MDDB adoption coordinator Christine Lai said the people who had dumped the puppy must truly be heartless.

"This puppy is only about three-months-old and dumping it on the streets like that is so inhumane.

"The culprit should not have taken the poor puppy in if they were not prepared to take care of it," said Lai.

The other puppies up for adoption are several that were rescued from Rawang and Jalan Ipoh.

Lai added MDDB hoped that all the puppies would be adopted today.

Apart from having the adoption drive, MDDB is also raising funds to pay off its debts at Gasing Veterinary Hospital which takes care of a bulk of the animal welfare group's veterinary medical cases.

"So far, we owe them about RM60,000 which we have to clear as soon as possible as we need to continue using their services," said Lai.

She added those who wanted to help pay the hospital bill could drop off their contributions at the adoption drive or make a payment directly at the hospital and informing MDDB of the transaction.
