Rain causes two landslides at Cameron Highlands

IPOH: Continuous rain has caused landslides to occur at two different areas in Cameron Highlands on Saturday (May 25).

Cameron Highlands OCPD Deputy Supt Ashari Abu Samah said the first landslide occurred at 6am near a farm in Jalan Ulu Merah, while the second one happened along Jalan Ringlet- Blue Valley at 9.30am.

He said no casualties were reported at both areas.

"The road at Ulu Merah is still closed for cleaning works, while one lane has been opened since noon for the second location.

"At Ulu Merah there is a farm located on the top, while the second location is near a quarry," he said.

He added that it has been raining non-stop since Friday night.

"A broken pipe at the farm made matters worse," he added.
