Datuk Seri turns himself in to aid in riot probe

KUALA LUMPUR: A Datuk Seri has surrendered to police here to help with investigations into the riot at an entertainment outlet at Jalan Klang Lama.

City Deputy CID chief Asst Comm Alzafny Ahmad said the man surrendered at the Brickfields police headquarters at around 3pm on Friday.

“We took his statement and interrogated him before releasing him on bail.

“This brings the total number of arrests in connection with the case to 15.

“We are still tracking down several other witnesses and suspects connected to this case,” he said yesterday.

On May 3 a group of men armed with sticks turned up the outlet at about 9.20pm and damaged equipment and furniture.

Investigations revealed that jealousy was believed to be the motive of the attack.

Some of the suspects told the police that a fight had occurred at a pub in Cheras before the attack.

City police chief Comm Datuk Seri Mazlan Lazim had said that police were looking for four suspects in connection with the case and one of them was the Datuk Seri.

ACP Alzafny said a bodyguard who was one of the four sought by police had also surrendered to the police.
