PUTRAJAYA: Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has launched a workplace guideline for the public sector, known as myPortfolio, aimed at creating a conducive environment to make the civil sector more efficient.
The myPortfolio initiative is developed by the Malaysian Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit (Mampu), which lets civil servants know what is required in executing his duties.
It also spells out the parameters and the connection between them and other officers.
The process is also to facilitate supervisors in monitoring the work status of each task and to take corrective measures, should there be delays.
myPortfolio will also ensure minimal delays and errors in government departments, and this will help boost productivity and efficiency.
Dr Mahathir said the government remained committed to boosting Malaysia’s competitiveness at the international level.
He said the latest Ease of Doing Business Report 2019 by the World Bank showed that Malaysia had risen from 24th to 15th place among 190 nations.
“Malaysia also excelled in corporate governance and this is evident in CG Watch Report 2018, where we are placed fourth among 12 Asia Pacific countries, compared with sixth place in 2016.
“We are above Japan, who are at seventh place, Korea (ninth) and China (10th),” he said when launching the myPortfolio on Tuesday (May 14).
The Prime Minister reminded civil servants that despite having a good system in place, it would not succeed if its users do not use the system honestly and with discipline.
